Thief Busted Returning To Scene Of Crime In Westchester, Police Say

A Fairfield County man is facing charges after returning to the scene of the crime where he shoplifted items in Northern Westchester the day before, Westchester County Police said.

A 22-year-old Ridgefield resident - whose name has not been released - allegedly stole a bag of cashews at Rite-Aid in Mount Kisco on Thursday, March 28, and was busted by police the following day when he returned to the store he had targeted.

According to police, the staff at Rite-Aid recognized the man who stole the cashews, and alerted Westchester County Police investigators. The man was taken into custody and booked at the County Police precinct on Green Street on a petit larceny charge.

Following his processing, the suspect was released on his own recognizance. The charges against the man are pending an April 11 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
